Meet The Lorikeets
The First Nations Lorikeets Rugby Union Football Club is more than a rugby team. It is a community movement creating a culturally safe and inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through rugby, the Lorikeets foster pride, belonging and connection while celebrating the strength of First Nations cultures.
FAQs
Is GALI Indigenous owned?
Yes. GALI was founded by David Leslie, a proud Kamilaroi man and volunteer surf lifesaver from Bondi Beach. The brand is 100% Indigenous owned and built to share Indigenous culture with the world.
Who Can Wear Gali?
Everyone.
Our swimwear, beach towels, and underwear are created with Indigenous artists and communities - each design shares their stories and culture for everyone to celebrate with.
We're proud that we have shared stories and culture with people across 42 countries.
Are artists paid royalties?
Yes. We pay a 10% artist royalty on every product we sell for custom designs. Royalties are paid upfront every quarter, on the net retail price - even when our products are on sale. Their work is always valued fairly and transparently.
How much is donated to the Lorikeets?
This is an limited edition, exclusive design.
25% of the retail price from every Lorikeets swim brief sold will be donated directly to the First Nations Lorikeets Rugby Union Football Club.
Through this collaboration, we're aiming to raise $5,000 to support the team to compete at the Bingham Cup.
What is the Bingham Cup?
The Bingham Cup is the world's largest international tournament for gay and inclusive rugby. Held every two years, it brings together teams from around the globe to celebrate rugby, inclusion and community.
Named in honour of Mark Bingham, the tournament promotes equality, respect and the belief that rugby is for everyone.
The 2026 Bingham Cup will be held in Brisbane, where the First Nations Lorikeets will make their historic debut.
